Ocala Treatment Options

Florida Regional Cancer Center: Ocala provides patients with some of the most advanced treatment technologies availabley. Some of the treatments and technologies available at Florida Regional Cancer Center include:

  • Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) – a sophisticated type of external beam radiotherapy which allows delivery of precisely targeted radiation beams to tumors, while sparing the surrounding healthy organs and tissues.

  • Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiation Therapy (3D-CRT) – a sophisticated set of computer assisted tomography scans (CT or CAT scans) and/or magnetic resonance imaging scans (MR or MRI scans) that create detailed, three-dimensional representations of tumors and surrounding organs for precise delivery of radiation beams to the exact size and shape of the tumor.

  • High Dose & Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy (HDR & LDR) – an innovative form of internal radiotherapy that places radioactive materials directly in contact with cancer tissues using catheters or wires, which are then removed when a curative dose has been delivered to the cancer. This comprehensive, aggressive approach to treatment ensures the maximum radiation dose is given where you need it most, while sparing the healthy surrounding tissue.

  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) – a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment option for both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors in many parts of the body. SRS delivers beams of high dose radiation to tumors with pinpoint accuracy and provides a new treatment option for those with inoperable or surgically complex tumors, or those who may be looking for an alternative to surgery.
