technology and professional team of experts needed to help patients fight cancer.
At Southwest Radiation Oncology Center, one of Radiation Oncology Associates' five advanced treatment centers, our dedicated and highly trained physicians and staff work as a team to provide patients with leading-edge cancer treatments in a caring and compassionate environment.

Radiation Oncology Associates provides patients with some of the most advanced treatment technologies available in the healthcare industry. Some of the treatments and technologies available at Southwest Radiation Oncology Center include:
-
Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) – a sophisticated type of external beam radiotherapy which allows delivery of precisely targeted radiation beams to tumors, while sparing the surrounding healthy organs and tissues.
-
Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) – visualized CT scans that verify target locations immediately before treatment delivery. In conjunction with IMRT, this allows for unprecedented accuracy in delivering radiotherapy.
-
High Dose & Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy (HDR & LDR) – an innovative form of internal radiotherapy that places radioactive materials directly
in contact with cancer tissues using catheters or wires, which are then removed when
a curative dose has been delivered to the cancer. This comprehensive, aggressive
approach to treatment ensures the maximum radiation dose is given where you need it
most, while sparing the healthy surrounding tissue.
-
Prostate Seed Implants – rice-sized “seeds” of radioactive material that are placed into a cancerous prostate. Seeds
can be left in place permanently, as they give off radiation for a specific period of time
(weeks or months), and do not need to be removed once the radiation is gone. Due to
their high success rate, prostate seed implants are an alternative to radical surgery, and
are one of the most popular radiation procedures in the United States.
-
CyberKnife® Stereotactic Radiosurgery – a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment option for both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors in many parts of the body. CyberKnife delivers beams of high dose radiation to tumors with pinpoint accuracy and provides a new treatment option for those with inoperable or surgically complex tumors, or those who may be looking for an alternative to surgery.
-
Clinical Trials – an opportunity to take advantage of advanced treatment options focused on improving current and future cancer treatment technologies and methodologies. Every cancer treatment that we offer patients today comes from the results of clinical trials done in the past. It is the safest and most thorough way to look for improvements in the way we treat patients.
